"Au revoir, jewelled alligators and white hotels, hallucinatory forests, farewell"

J.G. Ballard

Kamila K Stanley is a 23 year old travel photographer and graduate of Kings College London, studying Latin American Studies. She is currently living in London, but probably won't be for long...

Kamy grew up in the South of France, although British, and speaks English, Spanish, French and Portuguese. Through determination and being in the right place at the right time (not to mention her undeniable talent and vibrantly attractive company she so luckily keeps) her portfolio of analogue adventures transpire.

'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' was the musical obsession of my childhood. I was already mesmerised with the song's marmalade sky world, at an age when all I was tripping on was my own shoelaces.

Nowadays what I'm really interested in is blurring the lines between travel photography, and the chimerical, dreamy world I crave to live in... Kind of National Geographic on acid.

I play about loads with the dazy, nostalgic aura my cheap 1970s camera gives to images. I like to develop photographs that have that ache: pictures that could have been shot 20 years ago, or that take us some place slightly unreal. Sometimes I feel photography has become too much of a documentary medium, in this new digital, communication-saturated age. A camera can distort and haze reality as much as it reveals truths.

When I'm back home, I stick weird filters on my lens, and shoot stories around my starry-eyed brothers and sisters. I also work on editorials and commissions. I've stolen the name Kaleidoscope Eyes and use it everywhere, until John Lennon's estate comes and sues my guts.

To commission, purchase prints, or get in touch with Kamy, please send us an email and we'll make it happen. Go to About to check out the process and what more will come out of it. You could be the water to many a creative seed.
