"Reciprocal Readymade: Use a Rembrandt as an ironing board"
Lou Macnamara is a 23 year old artist, political filmmaker and graduate of Central Saint Martins, currently living in South East London. Political sociology and it's communication is the backbone to her work, of which her final graduate piece "Watching The War" was a media favourite, perhaps ironically.
In an age when information is everything: ‘data is the new oil,’ media is an extremely powerful tool. Whilst those in control of established communications corporations still have the ability to manipulate our political understanding, social media and the rise of the citizen journalist has created an opportunity to subvert this.
The way we communicate with and experience images in the media is central to my practice. What is obscured, what is ignored and what we are encouraged to see by those who have media power shapes the society we live in and changes how we interact with the world that we inhabit.
